Garlic Buns

If you read my previous post, you might be wondering: why did I have garlic butter on hand anyway?

Here’s why.

Jo’s Rosemary Bread

November 27, 2008

Thanksgiving in the United States is tomorrow, and there are no classes this week! Don’t get me wrong – I like attending class and have been learning in [challenging] leaps and bounds, but it’s nice to take a break. You know, so I can concentrate on my research and experiments, and um, bake heh heh.

Sunsets and slightly burnt basil

September 15, 2008

I had a quiet but really nice weekend. Yesterday night, a bunch of friends and I went out to a restaurant called Tiny Thai for dinner to celebrate my birthday (which was today – well, oops, now technically yesterday). This morning, I declared it was “Baking Challah Day” and brought some freshly baked and oven-warm challah to the lab. There are no pictures, but I’ll write a post about challah… soon… but it was just the way I like it, pulled apart with my hands, with the loaf’s inside being pillowy soft and the bottom with a slightly crisp crust. Isn’t that the best way to enjoy bread? ^_^

Herb and cheese scones

June 6, 2008

These scones are dedicated to my friend, who doesn’t didn’t like scones.

R: I don’t like scones.

Me: What do you mean? How could you not like scones?

R: Well…

Me: Okay. I will bake scones for you to try and if you still don’t like them after that, I won’t bug you anymore.

At R’s request, I made savoury scones with herbs and sharp [Vermont!] cheddar cheese. This is a modified version of a basic scone recipe that I use for sweet scones (which I personally like more, but I’ll post about those another time).

R’s verdict?

Muchas gracias, muuuuy rico!
